Self-care is so important, but many of us feel like we don’t have enough time to practice it. The good news is that self-care practices don’t always need to be lengthy or involved. While it’s good to carve out large chunks of time to care for yourself sometimes, self-care practices can also only take a few minutes.

Implementing self-care practices is important for your mental health. Taking care of yourself can improve your emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical health. Let’s review some quick things you can do if you only have a few minutes for self-care.

Brush Your Teeth

This may seem like a simple thing to do, but it can be a great way to reset and feel refreshed. Brushing your teeth only takes a few minutes but can help you turn your day around and get back in a good head space.

Wash Your Face

Taking a few moments to wash your face is another great way to feel refreshed and clean. This may be especially true if you don’t have time to take a full shower. Washing and moisturizing your face with your favorite beauty products can help you feel centered. It can get you back on the right track.

Make Your Bed

Finding quick and easy ways to tidy up your space can do wonders for your mental health. For example, if you didn’t make your bed in the morning, doing so at some point can help you feel accomplished. Never underestimate the effect that your space can have on your mental health.

Journaling

Some people feel intimidated by the thought of journaling. However, journaling doesn’t always have to mean writing for an hour. Even if you journal a few sentences or jot down some bullet points, getting some of your thoughts out on paper can be a great way to reflect and recognize what emotions you’re feeling.

Taking a few deep breaths can be a quick but effective way to reduce your stress levels. By closing your eyes and breathing deeply, you can give yourself a fresh start.
