Dr. William D. Stanley, M.D. - Contracted Internist
Dr. William D. Stanley, M.D., is a distinguished physician with a robust background in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ, after completing a Bachelor of Science degree at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. He further pursued a Master’s program in Anatomy at the University of Maryland, Baltimore City campus, before transitioning to medical school.
Dr. Stanley completed his residency training at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA, where he honed his expertise in Internal Medicine across both inpatient and outpatient settings. His professional journey led him to establish Parkside Medical Associates, PA in Trenton, NJ, where he employed four physicians and developed a keen interest in substance abuse treatment.
In 1998, Dr. Stanley began his involvement with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), achieving board certification in Addiction Medicine in 2000, and later with the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) in 2010. Since 2013, he has dedicated his practice exclusively to the treatment of substance use disorders.
Before joining Dr. Benya and her team in California, Dr. Stanley served as the Medical Director of an inpatient detox unit and two outpatient treatment programs in New Jersey. His extensive experience and dedication to addiction medicine have made him a valuable asset in the field.
Dr. Stanley holds active medical licenses in both New Jersey and California, bringing his comprehensive knowledge and compassionate care to the Avalon team. His commitment to helping individuals overcome substance use disorders underscores his distinguished career and unwavering dedication to his patients’ well-being.
